Mark your calendars – New Central Coast Trail is coming!

🔥 Did you know that the Central Coast is about to get its most exciting hiking addition in over a decade? The brand-new Yarramalong Ridge Trail is set to open next month, offering 15km of breathtaking coastal views!

📅 Event Details

The Yarramalong Ridge Trail Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, 2026! The official ribbon-cutting ceremony starts at 9am, but you can hit the trails from dawn ’til dusk. This family-friendly event will include guided tours, demo stalls from local outdoor gear brands, and a sausage sizzle at the halfway mark. The trail officially opens to the public on Sunday, February 16th, so you’ll have the whole weekend to explore!

⭐ What to Expect

This ain’t your average bushwalk, mate! The Yarramalong Ridge Trail features stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, lush rainforest sections, and even a couple of hidden waterfalls. There’s something for everyone – from easy 2km family loops to challenging 15km full-day hikes. The trail’s been designed with accessibility in mind, with sealed sections suitable for prams and wheelchairs. Plus, they’ve set up rest spots every 3km with rainwater tanks – bloody ripper!

📍 Location & Times

The trailhead is located at Yarramalong Reserve, Somersby NSW 2250. It’s just a 45-minute drive north of Sydney CBD, or you can catch the Central Coast train to Wyong Station and grab a bus from there. Opening hours will be 6am to 7pm daily, though I’d recommend starting early to avoid the midday heat and catch that golden hour light. Best season to go? Spring or autumn when the weather’s mild and the wildflowers are out!

💡 How to Make the Most of It

For the grand opening weekend, they’re running free guided walks with local Aboriginal elders who’ll share Dreaming stories about the area. Pack your sunnies, a hat, and plenty of water – even though they’ve got water tanks, it’s always good to have backup. If you’re keen on the full 15km, start early and pack lunch to enjoy at one of the scenic lookouts. And don’t forget your camera – those coastal Insta shots are gonna be unreal!

💡 Tips & Warnings

✅ Book your spot for the opening weekend guided walks – they’re filling up fast!
❌ Don’t attempt the full 15km if you’re not reasonably fit – there are some steep sections
⚠️ Phone reception is patchy in sections of the trail, so let someone know your plans
✅ Download the trail map app before you go – it has offline maps and points of interest

🚀 Will you be there? The Yarramalong Ridge Trail is gonna be a game-changer for Central Coast adventures! 🚀
