π₯ What if I told you I just got back from 4 absolutely ripper days exploring the Gold Coast’s best beaches? Mate, from sunrise surfs at Burleigh to arvo swims at Coolangatta, I’ve cracked the code on the ultimate beach adventure that won’t break the bank!
ποΈ Day 1: Surfers Paradise & Main Beach
Start your arvo at Surfers Paradise Beach – yeah it’s touristy but there’s a reason everyone goes! The beach is patrolled, the sand is golden, and the vibe is buzzing. Grab a swim between the flags, then wander the esplanade for some people-watching.
**Morning**: Hit the beach by 8am before the crowds roll in. The water’s usually heaps calm here, perfect for a dip or a beginner surf lesson.
**Arvo**: Walk north to Main Beach – quieter, more local feel. The Spit is just around the corner and has bloody ripper fishing spots if that’s your thing.
**Evening**: Sunset drinks at a beachside cafe along Tedder Avenue. The colours over the water are stunning!
ποΈ Day 2: Burleigh Heads – The Local Favourite
This is where the magic happens, mate! Burleigh Heads is arguably the most beautiful beach on the Coast, and the locals know it.
**Morning**: Start with the Burleigh Head National Park walk (1.2km return). The views from Tumgun Lookout are absolutely stunning – you’ll see all the way to Surfers! Allow about 45 minutes.
**Arvo**: Grab a swim in the protected corner near the headland. The water’s clearer here and there’s often turtles if you’re lucky! Then hit up one of the cafes on James Street for a post-swim feed.
**Evening**: Picnic on the headland watching the sunset. Pack some cheese, crackers, and a cold one. Trust me, this is peak Gold Coast living!
ποΈ Day 3: Coolangatta & Snapper Rocks
Head south to Cooly for some of the best beach experiences on the Coast – this was my favourite day!
**Morning**: Snapper Rocks is world-famous for a reason. Even if you’re not a surfer, watching the pros catch waves at the Superbank is mesmerising. Get there by 7am for the best light.
**Arvo**: Walk from Snapper to Greenmount Beach along the coastal path – about 30 minutes one way. Stop at Greenmount for a swim; it’s super sheltered and family-friendly. Then explore Coolangatta’s shops and grab some fish and chips.
**Evening**: Dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants at Kirra Point. The atmosphere as the sun goes down is unbeatable!
ποΈ Day 4: Currumbin & A Relaxing Finish
Wind down with a cruisy final day at Currumbin – laid-back and gorgeous.
**Morning**: Visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary if you wanna see koalas and kangaroos (opens 9am). Otherwise, the beach near Elephant Rock is stunning for a morning swim.
**Arvo**: Currumbin Alley is perfect for a lazy arvo swim. The water’s calm, and there’s plenty of shade under the trees. Grab an ice cream from the surf club and just chill.
**Evening**: Head to Tugun for dinner – less touristy, more local. The Indonesian restaurants there are surprisingly good!
