Lock it in, mate! The 2026 festival is hitting the Queensland coast from Thursday, 28th May to Sunday, 31st May. It’s all happening across Airlie Beach, Cannonvale, and Shute Harbour. This isn’t just a quiet little gathering; it’s the biggest celebration of the reef on the calendar. Expect four days packed to the brim with action.
β What to Expect
They’ve gone all out this year! You’ve got the famous ‘Festival of the Sails’ where yachts race through the stunning Whitsundaysβseriously breathtaking views. There’s also a massive street parade, live music from local bands, and the Family Fun Day. New for 2026 is the ‘Reef Interactive Zone’, letting you virtually dive the reef without getting wet. Plus, plenty of food stalls serving up fresh local seafood and cold drinks. Heaps good!

Main events kick off at the Airlie Beach Foreshore (The Esplanade). Most daytime activities start around 10 am, but things really heat up in the arvo and go late into the night. The fireworks display on Saturday night is usually around 7:30 pm, so grab a spot early with your crew.

Don’t just stick to the main stage! Head down to the marina to check out the yachts up closeβit’s genuinely impressive. If you’re keen to actually get on the water, plenty of tour operators offer special festival deals for snorkelling or diving trips. Book your accommodation ASAP, though.
