π₯ Did you know that Noosa’s point break is one of only 10 World Surfing Reserves globally? Yep, this little slice of Queensland paradise ranks right up there with Malibu and Jeffreys Bay! With Surfing Australia rankings consistently placing Noosa in the top spots for learner-friendly waves, it’s bloody perfect for families wanting to get amongst it. I’ve just wrapped up 10 ripper days up there with the fam, and honestly, I’m already itching to go back!
ποΈ Day 1-2: Settling In & First Waves
G’day! First things first – get yourselves sorted and hit the beach! We stayed right near Hastings Street which was heaps convenient.
**Morning Day 1:** Check in and grab brekkie at one of the cafes along Hastings Street. The Acai bowls are bloody delicious!
**Arvo Day 1:** Head to Main Beach – it’s patrolled and perfect for families. The little ones can splash in the shallows while you scope out the surf conditions.
**Day 2:** Time to get wet! Book a lesson with a Surfing Australia accredited school (you can use the Surfing Australia login on their site to find certified coaches near Noosa). We went with a 2-hour beginner session and the kids were standing up by the end! The gentle waves at Main Beach are ideal for first-timers.
π‘ **Pro tip:** Hit the water early – around 7am – before the crowds roll in and the northerly winds pick up.
ποΈ Day 3-4: Noosa National Park & Point Break
Alright, now you’re getting the hang of it! Time to explore a bit more.
**Morning Day 3:** Walk the Noosa National Park coastal track. Start early (like 6am early) and you might spot koalas in the trees! The walk takes you past several surf breaks – Tea Tree Bay, Granite Bay, and the famous Noosa Point.
**Arvo Day 3:** Watch the pros at the point break. This is where you’ll see why Noosa features so highly in Surfing Australia rankings – the longboard rides here are absolutely legendary.
**Day 4:** Another surf lesson or practice session. If the family is keen, try the waves at Little Cove – a bit more sheltered and usually less crowded than Main Beach.
π° **Budget tip:** The national park is free to enter! Pack snacks and water to save on costs.
ποΈ Day 5-6: Everglades Adventure
Time for a break from the surf! Trust me, your arms will thank you.
**Day 5:** Book a Noosa Everglades tour. We did the full-day canoeing adventure and it was unreal – one of only two Everglades systems in the world! The water is like glass, perfect for spotting wildlife.
**Day 6 Morning:** Recover with a lazy morning at the beach. Let the kids build sandcastles while you catch a few more waves.
**Day 6 Arvo:** Explore Noosaville along the river. heaps of parks, ice cream shops, and a ripper swimming enclosure for the kids.
β οΈ **Warning:** Book the Everglades tour in advance – they fill up quick, especially in school holidays!
ποΈ Day 7-8: Surf Progression & Eumundi Markets
You’re halfway through and hopefully feeling more confident on the board!
**Day 7:** Check your progress using the Surfing Australia login portal if you’ve been doing accredited lessons – they track your skill development which is pretty cool for the kids to see.
**Day 8 (Wednesday or Saturday):** Eumundi Markets day! This is non-negotiable – these markets are famous for a reason. Stock up on local crafts, try the food stalls, and enjoy the live music. We spent a good 4-5 hours here easily.
**Arvo Day 8:** Back to the beach for a sunset session. The golden hour light at Noosa is absolutely magical for photos!
π‘ **Pro tip:** Bring cash for the markets – not all stalls take cards, and there can be queues at the ATMs.
ποΈ Day 9-10: Final Adventures & Farewell
Last stretch, make it count!
**Day 9 Morning:** Try a different beach – Sunshine Beach is just around the headland and has a totally different vibe. More locals, less tourists, and decent waves if the conditions are right.
**Day 9 Arvo:** Last surf lesson or free practice. By now the family should be catching green waves consistently!
**Day 10:** One final sunrise beach walk, grab some souvenirs from Hastings Street, and maybe one last swim before packing up.
π **Achievement unlocked:** If you’ve been tracking via Surfing Australia’s programs, you might have levelled up your surfing ranking! The kids will be stoked to see their progress.
