🔥 The sun rises over the Blue Mountains, painting the valley in golden hues as I click into my pedals, ready for another ripper ride on one of Sydney’s hidden gem trails.
1️⃣ Blue Mountains World Heritage Trail
This is the absolute crown jewel of Sydney mountain biking, mate! The singletrack through ancient rainforests and over sandstone ridges gives you views that’ll knock your socks off. It’s a bit of a climb to get there, but bloody worth it when you’re flying down those technical sections.
2️⃣ Warragamba Mountain Bike Park
Nestled right near the dam, this spot has everything from beginner-friendly fire trails to proper downhill challenges. The new sections they’ve built in the last couple of years are heaps good, and you can finish with a swim in the lake – ripper!
3️⃣ Narrabeen Mountain Bike Trail
Right in the Northern Beaches, this place is a local legend. The coastal views while you’re tackling some of Sydney’s best cross-country trails are unreal. Perfect for a morning ride before hitting the beach for an arvo surf.
4️⃣ Cattai National Park
A bit further out west, but totally worth the drive. The combination of river scenery and challenging singletrack makes this one of my absolute favourites. The spring wildflowers blooming at the moment make it even more special.
5️⃣ Bidjigal Reserve
Right on Sydney’s doorstep in the Hills District, this place has exploded with new trails. The flow trails are bloody addictive, and the technical sections will test your skills. Great for after-work rides when you’re keen for a quick hit.
6️⃣ Kur-ring-gai Chase National Park
The combination of bushland, water views, and proper Australian wildlife makes this ride feel like you’re in another world. Keep your eyes peeled for goannas and kookaburras while you’re tackling the intermediate trails.
7️⃣ St Ives Showground
This is the spot for families and beginners trying to get into mountain biking. The pump track and easy trails are perfect for learning the ropes, and the facilities are top-notch. I taught my missus to ride here!
8️⃣ Marrickville Cycle Park
Inner-city riding doesn’t get much better than this! The purpose-built tracks cater to all skill levels, and the atmosphere on weekends is electric. Perfect for when you don’t want to travel too far but still want a proper ride.
9️⃣ Royal National Park
Some of the most challenging terrain in Sydney, with steep climbs and technical descents that’ll test even the most experienced riders. But the coastal rainforest setting is absolutely breathtaking – worth the effort for the views alone.
🔟 Lane Cove National Park
A hidden gem that most Sydneysiders don’t even know about! The winding singletrack along the river is perfect for intermediate riders, and you can often spot water dragons sunning themselves on the rocks. Great for a peaceful morning ride.
