Just Got Back From 12 Days In Australia – What A Ripper Family Adventure! π¦ποΈ
π₯ G’day folks! Just wrapped up an epic 12-day family adventure across Australia and I’m bloody buzzing to share the details! We chased wildlife, hiked incredible trails, and made memories that’ll last a lifetime – here’s exactly how you can do it too!
ποΈ Day 1-3: Sydney & Blue Mountains
Kicked off in Sydney with a ferry to Manly beach (perfect for kids!), then hit the Blue Mountains. Scenic World is a must-do with the kids – the Railway, Cableway, and Skyway had everyone grinning. Stayed at Katoomba and did the easy Prince Henry Cliff Walk to see the Three Sisters up close. Sunset at Govetts Leap is absolutely magic!
ποΈ Day 4-5: Melbourne & Great Ocean Road
Flew to Melbourne and straight to Phillip Island for the penguin parade – the kids were mesmerised! Next day we cruised the Great Ocean Road. Stopped at Bells Beach (watched the surfers!), then hit the 12 Apostles. Loch Ard Gorge has this incredible story the whole family loved. Stayed in Port Campbell – tiny town but heaps good fish and chips!
ποΈ Day 6-8: Adelaide & Kangaroo Island
Quick flight to Adelaide, then ferry to Kangaroo Island – wildlife paradise! Saw koalas at Hanson Bay, kangaroos at Flinders Chase, and seals at Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks is mind-blowing for photos. Stayed at a farm stay – kids hand-fed lambs each morning. The local honey ice cream is a game-changer!
ποΈ Day 9-10: Cairns & Great Barrier Reef
Flew north to tropical Cairns! Day trip to the Outer Reef with Quicksilver – the semi-submersible was perfect for non-swimmers. Kids spotted Nemo everywhere! Next day explored the Daintree Rainforest – Mossman Gorge is stunning for a freshwater dip. Cassowary spotting became our family mission!
ποΈ Day 11-12: Uluru & Home
Final stop: the Red Centre! Uluru at sunrise gave me goosebumps – truly spiritual. Did the base walk (easy for all ages) then sunset at Kata Tjuta. The Sounds of Silence dinner under the stars costs a bomb but worth every cent for the final night. Flew out from Ayers Rock Airport next morning, already planning the return trip!
