My top 7 picks for Blue Mountains walks – ranked!

🔥 Did you know the Blue Mountains National Park covers over 267,000 hectares and features more than 140km of walking tracks? After exploring these trails for over 5 years, here’s my honest ranking of the absolute best walks you’ve gotta try!

1️⃣ Wentworth Falls to Princes Rock Lookout

This beauty is easily my number one pick for good reason! The track takes you along the cliff edge with jaw-dropping views of the valley below. Last weekend I spotted a gang of cockatoos having a right old squabble mid-flight. It’s about 3.5km return and heaps good for most fitness levels. The lookouts along the way are just unreal for sunrise photos too!

2️⃣ Katoomba to Scenic World via Furber Steps

A ripper of a walk that takes you from Katoomba down into the valley and back up via the famous Scenic Railway. The Furber Steps are a bit of a leg-burner but totally worth it. I’ve done this in both directions and reckon going down first is the go. The rainforest section in the middle is absolutely magical – proper Aussie bush at its finest!

3️⃣ Govetts Leap to Pulpit Rock

This one’s got the most epic views of the Grose Valley you’ll find anywhere. The track from Govetts Leap to Pulpit Rock is only about 2km return but the payoff is massive! On a clear day, you can see forever. I went last year with my mate who’s scared of heights (yeah, poor choice mate) and even he admitted it was worth the shaky legs!

4️⃣ Three Sisters Walk via Leura Cascades

A classic for a reason! This combo walk takes you through the iconic Three Sisters viewpoint and down to the beautiful Leura Cascades. The track’s well-maintained and perfect for families. I always pack a thermos for a brekkie stop at the cascades – nothing beats a cuppa with that view!

5️⃣ Blue Gum Forest to Burra Korain Flats

For something a bit quieter but still stunning, this walk takes you through some of the most beautiful old-growth forest in the area. It’s a bit further out but totally worth the extra drive. The creek crossing can be a bit tricky after rain, so chuck on some good boots. I spotted a platypus here last spring – proper ripper!

6️⃣ Honeycomb Rock Lookout

This lesser-known gem offers incredible views without the crowds of some of the more popular spots. The track’s a bit steep in places but relatively short. I love coming here for sunset – the way the light hits the valley is just bloody magical. Bring your sunnies ’cause the glare can be intense!

7️⃣ Dawson River Walking Track

My budget-friendly pick for a proper Aussie bush experience. This track follows the river through some lovely wilderness areas. It’s not as scenic as some others on the list but offers a peaceful escape from the tourist crowds. Perfect for a lazy arvo stroll when you just wanna disconnect from it all.
