Here’s exactly what to buy for your Wilsons Promontory adventure!

🔥 The crisp morning air fills your lungs as you stand at the edge of Wilsons Promontory, the salty ocean breeze mixing with the scent of eucalyptus and the distant sound of waves crashing against granite cliffs. This is the kind of place that makes you feel alive, mate, and I’ve spent countless weekends exploring this ripper of a national park!

🏞️ The Great South Walk

One of Victoria’s most iconic multi-day hikes, this 20km loop takes you through rainforests, along pristine beaches, and up to Mount Oberon for epic views. I did this last year with a mate and it’s absolutely unreal – you’ll see Tidal River, Squeaky Beach, and the Lilly Pilly Gully. Best time is spring when the wildflowers are out in full bloom!

🪨 Rock Climbing at The Prom

Wilsons Prom is a climbing paradise with granite cliffs that’ll make any climber’s heart race. The Southern Face and Mount Oberon offer everything from beginner routes to challenging overhangs. I’m no pro, but even I managed some of the easier routes – just make sure you get a permit first!

🐨 Wildlife Spotting Tour

You can’t come here and not spot some Aussie wildlife! Head out at dawn and you’ll likely see kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, and heaps of birdlife. My tip? Take a torch and go for a walk along Tidal River at night – I’ve seen wallabies feeding and heard kookaburras laughing. It’s heaps good!

🚣 Kayaking in Norman Bay

Paddle around Norman Bay and explore the hidden coves and sea caves. The water’s crystal clear and you might even spot dolphins or seals! I did this last summer and it was a ripper way to cool off. Just check the tides before you go – some spots get pretty shallow at low tide.

🌅 Sunset at Mount Oberon

This has to be the number one experience at The Prom – hiking up Mount Oberon for sunset. The 360-degree views over the peninsula and Bass Strait are absolutely breathtaking. Pack a thermos of tea and some snags for a sunset picnic. I’ve done this three times and it never gets old!
