π¨ Breaking: Epic New MTB Facilities at Blue Mountains! π΅ββοΈ
π₯ G’day folks! Just got the hot-off-the-press news that the Blue Mountains has dropped some bloody awesome new facilities for us mountain bikers, and trust me, you’re gonna wanna hear this!
π’ What’s Happening
The NSW National Parks service has just unveiled a massive $2.5 million upgrade to the Blue Mountains mountain biking infrastructure! This includes brand new pump tracks, skills areas, and upgraded trail networks at popular spots like Blackheath and Katoomba. As someone who’s shredded these trails for years, I’m absolutely stoked about these changes!
π Key Details
Here’s the lowdown: A new beginner-friendly pump track at Blackheath Memorial Park opened last weekend. The Glenbrook trails have been extended with 15km of new single track. There’s a dedicated skills progression area near Wentworth Falls with jumps ranging from tiny to pro-level. Plus, they’ve added proper bike wash stations and secure bike racks at major trailheads. All facilities opened officially on October 15th, 2024!
π‘ What This Means for You
For beginners: The new skills areas are perfect for building confidence without committing to full trails. For families: The pump tracks are a massive win for keeping kids entertained. For experienced riders: Those new Glenbrook single tracks are technical as hell with some sick rock gardens. Best part? All new areas have proper signage and mobile reception (finally!). Weekend crowds might be heavier initially, but the trail expansion should spread everyone out nicely.
π‘ Tips & Warnings
β
Hit the new Blackheath pump track during weekday arvos when the local kids are in school – you’ll have it to yourself!
β οΈ Some new trail sections are still bedding in, so watch for loose gravel and unexpected ruts, especially after rain.
β
Download the Trailforks app before you go – the new trails are already mapped with difficulty ratings and current conditions.
β Don’t forget to bring your own tools and pump for the new sections – maintenance stations are planned but not installed yet.
π Stay tuned for updates! π
