My Top 5 Bushwalks Under $100 – Ranked! π₯Ύ
π₯ G’day mates! As someone who’s spent the last 5 years trekking all over this beautiful country, I’m gonna share my absolute favourite budget-friendly bushwalks that won’t break the bank but’ll give you memories for life!
1οΈβ£ Royal National Park Coast Track
π Sydney, NSW | β±οΈ 2 days
This bloody ripper of a walk is my all-time favourite! You’ll get stunning coastal cliffs, secluded beaches, and that famous Figure Eight Pools. I did this last winter and the sunrise over the ocean was absolutely magical! Cost is just the train fare ($10) plus camping fees if you stay overnight. Best value for money anywhere near Sydney, no doubt about it.
2οΈβ£ Grampians Peaks Trail (Section)
π Halls Gap, VIC | β±οΈ 1 day
You don’t need to do the whole 13-day trail to experience the magic! The section from The Pinnacle to Wonderland is heaps good and costs virtually nothing. The views are absolutely insane – I reckon it’s better than some paid attractions! Pack your swag for a night under the stars if you’re feeling adventurous. The rock formations here will blow your mind!
3οΈβ£ Wollemi National Park – Glow Worm Tunnel
π Lithgow, NSW | β±οΈ 3 hours
This is such a hidden gem! An old railway tunnel now home to thousands of glow worms – absolutely magical! I took my niece there last month and she was completely blown away. The walk in through the bush is lovely too, with plenty of birdlife. It’s an easy walk that’s perfect for families, and the cost is just petrol and park entry. Pack a headtorch for the full experience!
4οΈβ£ Daintree Rainforest Boardwalk
π Cape Tribulation, QLD | β±οΈ 2 hours
Forget the expensive tours! The Dubuji Boardwalk at Cape Trib is free and gives you the full ancient rainforest experience. I spotted a cassowary here last arvo – no joke! The mangrove section is fascinating too. Combine it with a swim at the beach (check season first!) and you’ve got a perfect day out for under $20. The sounds of the rainforest at night are something else entirely!
5οΈβ£ Freycinet Peninsula Circuit
π Coles Bay, TAS | β±οΈ 4 hours
Tassie’s Wineglass Bay gets all the hype, but the full peninsula circuit is where it’s at! And get this – it costs bugger all! The climb up to the lookout is a bit steep but totally worth it. I did this walk last summer and the views of the pink granite mountains against the turquoise water… just wow! Pack some brekkie and make a proper morning of it.
π Honourable Mentions
Blue Mountains National Park (Multiple free walks), Noosa National Park Coastal Track (QLD), and the Larapinta Trail sections (NT) all deserve a shoutout! These spots are absolutely brilliant and won’t cost you much more than a tank of petrol and some snacks. Each offers something uniquely Australian, from desert landscapes to coastal heathlands.
