Just Got Back From 5 Days on Phillip Island – What a Ripper! π§
π₯ G’day mate! Just got back from an absolute cracker of a 5-day family adventure on Phillip Island, and I’m bloody stoked to share the deets with you! This place isn’t just about the penguins β there’s so much more to discover!
ποΈ Day 1: Penguin Parade Prep & Island Arrival
Kick things off by driving onto the island (it’s about 90 mins from Melbourne). First stop: the Phillip Island Chocolate Factory for a sweet welcome! Check into your accommodation, then hit the beach at Cowes for a swim. Around 5 PM, head to the Penguin Parade Visitor Centre to grab your tickets for tonight. Grab dinner at one of the local pubs, then settle in for the main event β watching those little penguins waddle home at sunset. Trust me, it never gets old!
ποΈ Day 2: Coastal Wonders & Wildlife Galore
Start with brekkie at a local cafΓ© in San Remo, then cross the bridge onto the island proper. First stop: the Koala Conservation Reserve β get up close with these sleepy legends! After lunch, drive the scenic route to The Nobbies for spectacular coastal views and seal spotting. Spend your arvo exploring the rock pools at Summerland Beach. Wrap up with dinner at Pino’s Trattoria β their pizza is heaps good!
ποΈ Day 3: Beach Day & Surf’s Up!
Today’s all about that coastal lifestyle! Morning surf lesson at Smiths Beach (perfect for beginners), followed by fish and chips on the sand. Afternoon: explore Cape Woolamai β the hike to the Pinnacles offers unreal views! If you’re feeling adventurous, try the George Bass Coastal Walk. Sunset drinks at the Isle of Wight Hotel overlooking the water. Pro tip: pack your sunnies β it gets bright out there!
ποΈ Day 4: Farm Life & History
Morning visit to Churchill Island Heritage Farm β kids will love the cow milking and sheep shearing demonstrations! The heritage buildings are fascinating too. Lunch at the island’s best bakery (Rhyll Bakery gets my vote). Afternoon: explore the historic homestead and gardens. Optional: Take a wildlife cruise from Rhyll to spot dolphins and seabirds. Evening BBQ at your accommodation β proper Aussie style!
ποΈ Day 5: Last Adventures & Farewell
Start with sunrise at Red Rocks Beach β absolutely stunning! Quick stop at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit (even if you’re not into racing, the views from the top are worth it). Grab last-minute souvenirs in Cowes. One final lunch at the waterfront before heading back to the mainland. Trust me, you’ll already be planning your return trip!
